The Peacemaker Program will be holding a Basic Mediation Training this June!
The five-day training will include everything that you need to become a certified mediator in New York State. The skills learned are valuable additions to a resumé, and powerful tools in both personal and professional conflicts. Participants will learn how to become effective listeners, communicate better, solve problems, and preserve relationships. No previous experience is required.
Tuition is $350 per person. Participants who commit to donating their time as Community Partners are eligible for a $100 discount, and their fee is returnable upon certification. If you wish to commit to becoming a Community Partner, please complete a Volunteer Application. You will be sent a Discount Code for registration.
Registration for this training is limited, to ensure quality training and a positive experience. Attendance on all five days is required. Lunch will be provided. The training will be held on June 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th from 9am to 4pm.
This May, join us for one of our most popular trainings on Third Thursday!
This training takes the advanced conflict resolution skills used by our professional mediators and boils them down into a form that anyone can use. While mediation is a powerful technique, sometimes people need to solve problems quickly and still produce a positive outcome. Whether using these skills professionally (in Customer Service or Management) or personally (with friends and family), you will learn to solve problems with lasting solutions in less than two minutes.
Advance registration is required for all Third Thursday events. As always, Community Partners can use their Discount Code to register for free!
Come To The Table 2016 was held on April 9th, and a good time was had by all! In addition to beer tastings, dinner, dessert, and live music, we auctioned off more than 20 incredible designs at a thrilling live auction.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Table Designers, and guests, the event raised more than $11,000! This helps to magnify the impact that our services have on our community. Thank you!
Attending Basic Mediation Training can be a huge boon to any professional! Even if you don't plan to become a Community Partner, the skills you learn can help you to advance your career, make your workplace more productive, and reduce the cost of conflict at your business.
Become a Child Advocate
In August of 2016. The Peacemaker Program will be holding a Child Advocate Training in cooperation with the Dispute Resolution Center of Lewis and Jefferson Counties. A detailed schedule for this two-day training will follow.
The Peacemaker Program is based in Utica, but provide their conflict resolution services across all of Oneida and Madison Counties!
That means businesses, schools, families, and others across Central New York have access to free or low-cost conflict resolution services!
When most of us imagine "conflict" we picture yelling, screaming, and shouting. While this is a common format for conflict, it certainly isn't the only one.
Quiet conflict can be just as difficult, aggressive, and destructive as its more dramatic cousin. The core of conflict is the inability, or unwillingness, to communicate productively. That's just as true in the silent treatment (or in avoiding the other person altogether) as it is in a shouting match.
"When introverts are in conflict with each other...it may require a map in order to follow all the silences, nonverbal cues and passive-aggressive behaviors!"
-Adam S. McHugh
